  • Account details: email address, username, display name, profile photo
  • Betting tips and posts you publish on the platform
  • Messages and comments you send or post
  • Community information you create or join
  • Feedback, support requests, or survey responses

  • Device identifiers, operating system, and app version
  • IP address and approximate location (country/region level)
  • Usage data: screens visited, features used, session duration
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics
  • Push notification tokens (if you grant permission)

Information from third parties

  • If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider
  • Live fixture and odds data from sports data APIs (not linked to you personally)

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the BetIQ Social platform
  • Authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • Automatically settle your posted bets against live match results
  • Calculate and display leaderboard rankings, ROI, and statistics
  • Send you notifications about match results, followers, and activity (with your permission)
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Content Policy
  • Analyse usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Where applicable, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — improving our platform, preventing abuse, and ensuring security
  • Consent — push notifications and optional analytics (withdrawable at any time)
  • Legal obligation — compliance with applicable laws

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers: Supabase (database and auth), Expo (push notifications), and analytics providers who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements
  • Other users: Your username, profile photo, public posts, and betting statistics are visible to other users as part of the platform's core social features
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred (you will be notified)

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes (e.g. fraud prevention records, up to 7 years).

Anonymised, aggregated data (e.g. aggregate platform statistics) may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to certain processing

8. Children's Privacy

BetIQ Social is a betting-related application intended exclusively for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data.

9. Cookies & Tracking

The BetIQ Social mobile app does not use browser cookies. Our website uses essential cookies for navigation and optional analytics cookies (with your consent). You can manage cookie preferences via your browser settings.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Where we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

11. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
